We are the harbinger of dreams, we are the messenger of ideas
Three and a half decades ago, a campaign was started to bring progressive, pro-people literature to the masses. A small bookshop and a team of dedicated volunteers holding small exhibitions on sidewalks, in neighborhoods and in front of colleges and offices, and delivering books from house to house on bicycles, on carts, in bags—this was the beginning. Today this ideological-cultural campaign has spread to dozens of cities and towns in the country.
Apart from bookshops in Lucknow and Gorakhpur, volunteers of ‘Janchetna’ run small book-distribution centers and organise small and large book exhibitions at many places in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala. They not only distribute books, periodicals and elegant artistic posters, cards, etc., they also stimulate good reading habits and create new readers.
Janchetna is now taking literature to the remotest corners of the country through its website and various online mediums as well.
Janchetna is the main distributor of publications of Rahul Foundation, Parikpanna Prakashan, Anurag Trust and Arvind Memorial Trust. You will get selected literary and non-fiction books from a range of small and big Hindi and English publishers. You can also get almost all important literary and ideological Hindi magazines from us.
‘Janchetna’ is also a part of ‘Hamara Media Abhiyan’ (Our Media Campaign) being run by various pro-people journals and publications. It is our firm determination to continue on this path of delivering dreams and thoughts, without taking any help from the ruling establishment, from capitalist houses, from electoral political parties and various funding agencies.

हम हैं सपनों के हरकारे, हम हैं विचारों के डाकिये
साढ़े तीन दशक पहले प्रगतिशील, जनपक्षधर साहित्य को जन-जन तक पहुँचाने की मुहिम की एक छोटी-सी शुरुआत हुई थी, बड़े मंसूबे के साथ। एक छोटी-सी बुकशॉप और फ़ुटपाथों पर, मुहल्लों में और कॉलेजों-दफ़्तरों के सामने छोटी-छोटी प्रदर्शनियाँ लगाने वाले तथा साइकिलों पर, ठेलों पर, झोलों में भरकर घर-घर किताबें पहुँचाने वाले समर्पित वॉलण्टियरों की टीम — शुरुआत बस यहीं से हुई। आज यह वैचारिक-सांस्कृतिक अभियान देश के दर्जनों शहरों और गाँवों-क़स्बों तक फैल चुका है।
लखनऊ और गोरखपुर में बुकशॉप के अलावा, दिल्ली, उत्तर प्रदेश, उत्तराखण्ड, बिहार, महाराष्ट्र, पंजाब, हरियाणा, हिमाचल प्रदेश, आन्ध्र प्रदेश, तेलंगाना व केरल में बहुत-सी जगहों पर ‘जनचेतना’ के वॉलण्टियर छोटे-छोटे पुस्तक वितरण केन्द्र चलाते हैं और पुस्तक प्रदर्शनियों के ज़रिए लोगों तक किताबें, पत्र-पत्रिकाएँ और सुरुचिपूर्ण कलात्मक पोस्टर, कार्ड आदि पहुँचाते हैं। लोगों में पढ़ने की दिलचस्पी जगाते हैं, नये-नये पाठक बनाते हैं।
अपनी वेबसाइट और विभिन्न ऑनलाइन माध्यमों के ज़रिए भी अब ‘जनचेतना’ देश के सुदूर कोनों तक साहित्य पहुँचा रही है।
राहुल फ़ाउण्डेशन, परिकल्पना प्रकाशन, अनुराग ट्रस्ट और अरविन्द स्मृति न्यास के प्रकाशनों की जनचेतना मुख्य वितरक है। इसके साथ ही, हिन्दी व अंग्रेज़ी के सभी उल्लेखनीय बड़े और छोटे प्रकाशकों से चुनी हुई साहित्यिक और कथेतर पुस्तकों का संग्रह आपको हमारे पास मिलेगा। हिन्दी की लगभग सभी प्रमुख साहित्यिक व वैचारिक पत्रिकाएँ भी आप हमसे प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।
विभिन्न जनपक्षधर पत्र-पत्रिकाओं और प्रकाशनों द्वारा चलाये जा रहे ‘हमारा मीडिया अभियान’ का भी ‘जनचेतना’ एक हिस्सा है। हमारा यह दृढ़ संकल्प है कि हम सत्ता प्रतिष्ठान से, पूँजीपति घरानों से, चुनावबाज़ राजनीतिक पार्टियों से, देशी-विदेशी फ़ण्डिंग एजेंसियों आदि से बिना कोई मदद लिये, बिना कोई समझौता किये और बिना किसी दबाव या आतंक के सामने झुके, जनता तक जनता का पक्ष पहुँचाते रहेंगे। सपने और विचार लेकर, जीवन-संघर्ष-सृजन-प्रगति का नारा लेकर जाते रहेंगे।
यह एक लम्बी यात्रा की छोटी-सी शुरुआत है। आइए, आप भी इस मुहिम में हमारे सहयात्री बनिए।
